Bartô wasn’t born here, but comes from our bloodline. He was sent to us at 9 years old with much joy in our kennel at July/2011. He arrived presenting a mild diarrhea that disappeared in 2 days with the use of probiothic. We attributed it to the stress of travelling to us. Two months after, Bartô had a severe diarrhea. Laboratory tests did not show any parasites at feces (he was dewarmed), but the blood showed low albumin (protein) and leucocitosys (indicating a bacterian infection). He was treated by metronidazol (Flagyl) with no result. It was changed for another antibiotic and we begin to feed him medical K9 food called “Sensible” of Royal Canin. The diarrhea went on for 33 days despite medication and the prescribed food. When we changed the dry food to the home made food, he stopped diarrhea immediately. His dietotherapy is based on Chinese Medicine. He went on with the antibiotic. Now, after beeing fed only home made food for 1 month, his general health is much better, the fur more soft, and laboratory tests showed improvement of the albumin level in blood from 1.8 to 2.0 g/dL (normal between 2.3 – 3.8 g/dL). Leucocitosys disappeared.

Bartô is followed up clinicaly by our vet Dr Claudio Zagha. He will begin phytoterapy tomorow morning, prescribed by our vet Dr William Estellai.
