Sivia preparing the diet

This is the diet adapted to our pug’s need. It has been adopted for 1 month, with improvement of the fur and general health of all them. It is based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, by medical advice of our vet Dr William Estellai, and can be used for all pugs as it comprehends the needs of a significant number of specimens (20 pugs in our kennel). To know more Dr William indicates the book: “Four Paws, Five Directions” of Cheryl Schwartz

To the model proposed by Chinese Medicin, we adapted some sugestions given by the website www.cachorroverde.com.br ( in Portuguese) that indictes Natural Food. (raw food).
We do not intend to assume the responsability on any disturbance caused by this diet. We advise to talk to your vet before offering it to your pug.

Our Diet

25% of raw minced meat spiced with a very thin slice of grinded fresh garlic (for each pug). Cooked eggs can be offered as an alternative once a week (not tested yet in our pugs).

10% of raw chicken liver alternated with 10% of slightly cooked chicken’s neck grinded in the mixer.

30% of sweet potato or yam cooked with the skin, grinded in the mixer.

30% of well cooked rice.

10% of one or more vegetables, cooked and slighty grinded in the mixer (carrot, pumpkin, beetroot or others, varying to guarantee the diet is well balanced).

Do not use salt
Do not use onion
Do not use any oil to cook the ingredients.

Breeders and pug owners all know about their delicate health that requires an excelent and alert management. This is particulary evident after 9 years old. We intend to talk about all illness we treated our pugs since 1994 (the kennel was registred only in 1995), about all we learned with such a numerous group of pugs, about how we have been treating them, and about what we should have avoided in their youth. All illness we will relate are not exclusive of our kennel, which bloodline comes from the combination of others. These are common problems of the breed, as related by the medical literature. At the moment, 50% of our crew of 20 pugs are older than 9. In these 17 years, many of our pugs have crossed the rainbow bridge, some old, others still young, and we miss all them so much, with their unique and fascinant character. We will thank you all if your experience can be also shared with all us in the comments of this blog.
