F. A. Q.

1) Why did we change to Dietotherapy?

Some of our pugs started to show severe digestive problems in their adulthood. Some of them passed away, due to the diagnosis. After the dietotherapy was started, we had the full recovery of two pugs, without any symptoms and the normalization of lab tests. We then decided to extend the benefit to all our dogs.

2) Is this a tested diet?

Our twenty pugs have been being fed through dietotherapy since October 2011, with significant improvement of everyone’s health.

3)What to expect from a dog fed with dietotherapy?

– Shaped and scentless feces.
– Healthy skin, with allergies withdrawal.
– Clean ears.
– Lighter urine, scentless and abundant, with significant decrease of urinary tract diseases.
– Longer survival rate on elderly animals, with quality of life.
– Smaller incidence of diseases and better health recovery, when they happen.
– Cleaner teeth, without bad breath.
– Overweight normalization.

4) Is my dog going to have a balanced diet? How do I know if he is eating correctly?

Yes, the food is balanced, and he will have all his nutritional needs served. According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine, we have the Five Flavours (Acid, Bitter, Sweet, Spicy and Savory) and the Five Colors (Green, Red, Yellow, White and Black). To achieve the balance, we (and the dogs) have to eat out of the Five Flavors and Five Colors contained in food moderately. The abbuse of some certain food over others, causes the unbalance and, with time, diseases.

5) Is it better to use raw or cooked food?

According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine, the food can be served raw or cooked. Generally, the cooked servings brought us more benefits, such as a better digestibility.

6) Can I feed my dog with my food?

No. We eat preservatives and much more salt, fat and spice than we need. The food must be balanced especifically for your dog, having everything in small portions.

7) What are the advantages of the dietotherapy over the Super Premium dry dog food?

Everything that is natural is better, because it is richer in nutrients, without colorants or preservatives. We have the certainty of knowing exactly the origin of our ingredients, everything fresh and of the best quality, never using byproducts for the sources of protein (meat). We are what we eat, as much as any living being.

8) Why is this diet called dietotherapy? What was its formulation based on?

The diet was based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, that uses food as therapeutical resource.

9) What were the sources researched for the formulation of this diet?

The main ones were:
CHERYL SCHWARTZ – Quatro patas, cinco direções: um guia de Medicina Chinesa para Cães e Gatos. São Paulo: Editora Ícone, 2008.
